Candle Care
Our candles are 100% soy wax. Vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and phthalate-free, each is hand-poured in New South Wales, Australia. All fragrance oils are sourced and manufactured in Australia.
BURN TIME
To prevent tunnelling and create a candle memory, the first time you light it, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the glass. Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
AVOID DRAUGHTS
Candles burn best in still air. If you can't avoid draughts, turn the candle periodically to avoid uneven burning and possible candle collapse. A candle in a draught may also start to smoke.
PUTTING YOUR CANDLE OUT
Rather than blowing your candle out, it’s always best to use a candle dipper or candle snuffer (see our candle care kit). This prevents wicks from drifting off-centre and avoids wax splash. It also helps maximise your candle's burn time.
CANDLE STORAGE
Candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Fragrances with a vanilla content may yellow if exposed to sunlight or fluorescent light, but this is normal and doesn’t affect burning. Store your candles in an upright position. Keep away from sunlight and heat sources as they will lose their scent and may discolour when placed in direct sunlight.
TRIM WICK BEFORE EVERY USE
In soy wax, it’s normal for wicks to ‘mushroom’. This is easily fixed by trimming your wick to 6mm (or 1/4 inch). Trimming also ensures your candle doesn’t burn hotter than it should, and will prolong its life. Trim the little ball on the end of your wick to keep it burning gently, and be sure not to cut it too short or it will become engulfed by wax.
KEEP THE ‘BURN POOL’ CLEAN
If any black appears on the rim of your glass, simply wipe it away with a damp cloth. This may also be a sign that your wick is too long.
WHILE BURNING
Don’t leave your candle unattended, and keep it away from draft, children, and pets. Always place your candle on a heat-resistant base and set it on a level, stable surface. If burning multiple candles at once, set them apart to avoid uneven burning.
POST-BURN
Simply use hot water to clean out the residue wax. The wax can be thrown into the bin – please don’t wash it down the sink! Repurpose the glass vessel and give it a new life.
